Machinima – Petoholics Anonymous Because you can never have too many pets Sat, 16 Nov 2013 15:57:05 +0000 en-US hourly 1 1574202 Machinima Monday: Redshift – Interlude Mon, 14 Mar 2011 17:44:11 +0000 Thanks to the advances of technology (yay scheduled posting), at the time of this post, I will be enjoy the aftermath of my guild leader’s wedding way down in Iowa. And possibly torturing the poor unfortunate guild members who are nursing a hangover.

For the second edition of Machinima Monday, I give you the next video in the Redshift series. This one takes a look back in time at Aislynn’s history and provides some insight as to how she got where she is today. The video and audio are much more polished in comparison to slashdance‘s first video, but the story is no less compelling. Unsurprisingly, it won 1st place in the Drama category at the BlizzCon 2007 Movie Contest.

Machinima Monday: Redshift Mon, 07 Mar 2011 19:04:21 +0000 I’d like to present the very first Machinima Monday, which will be a weekly post featuring my favorites in well…machinima.

Given my unfortunate inability to post on a regular basis, I’m hoping that by starting this feature, I’ll be more inclined to remember to post more than my usual 2-3 posts a month. >.> But also I’d like to show my love for machinima and their creators, most of who do this for no money and for the pure fun and entertainment of it.

For any who are unfamiliar with the term, Machinima, as defined by Wikipedia,  “is the use of real-time 3D computer graphics rendering engines to create a cinematic production. Most often, games are used to generate the computer animation.” One of the more prominent machinimas, that I’m sure every internet denizen has heard of, is the Red vs. Blue series that was done using the Halo game.

We all know how popular World of Warcraft is, so it should be no surprise that there is a metric ton of WoW machinimas floating around out there. And I enjoy watching a lot of them.

This being the first Machinima Monday, I knew I had to start with something special. I mentally went through the list of all the popular, flashy, catchy videos…yet in the end, I always came back to my very favorite series: Redshift.

So now it is my pleasure to give you Redshift – Ty’zamar and Aislynn, the first in the series. It was slashdance‘s very first machinima done back in 2006. The video quality is low, the audio could use improvement, but to this day, it’s always been the story that made me love it. And really, isn’t the story the most important part?
