Thanks Sellia!

Sellia was sweet enough to give me this little present:

I had seen the Wordle that he had on his own blog and I had been meaning to make my own…but I’m so forgetful. Luckily I have Sellia to remember things for me! I should hire him to follow me around and remind me of things. :P

Quick notes

…before I fall sleep at the computer (I swear I was wide awake when I got here).

  1. I decided to try out the Twitter thing for my random WoW thoughts and to let everyone know I’m still breathing. It’s located at the bottom of the left menu. We’ll see how long it lasts :)
  2. 140 characters is NOT enough for me to put down my thoughts. Are you listening, Twitter?
  3. If you’ve been following The Troll Hunter, you should know that he is very much alive, just hasn’t gotten around to updating his blog. I know because A) I’ve been playing with him and B) I helped him move his blog and even ported his theme over for him. Maybe if I tell everyone this, it will light a fire under his behind and he’ll get posting.
  4. Big news coming very soon. May or may not include my progress on the pet name generator *shifty eyes*
  5. I get really silly when I’m tired. Like right now…I’m going to admit to talking out loud to my hunters’ pets as I play, doing stuff like promising them their favorite food if they do a good job. Am I the only one?

That is all. Now back to your regular scheduled programming. *plays muzak in the background*

Repair bills to run Tkasha to Darkshore, drown her, and get on the boat to Azuremyst…1 silver 96 copper

Arrows to kill the Blood Elf Bandit 6 times…2 silver 15 copper

Time spent running around Azuremyst killing the bugger until he dropped this…1 hour

Tkasha wearing an item that is selling for 100 gold on the AH…priceless

There are some things money can’t buy. For everything else, there’s Faeldray’s perseverance.

Loud Noises!

Working at a gaming centre has its perks, other than the obvious FREE gaming! My boss received a bunch of free tickets to Video Games Live (first time ever in Winnipeg) so the three staff members (including me of course) went to go see it with him last night. Basically what happens is that a full orchestra plays the music from select video games while a large screen plays clips from the game. It was really nice to see that the music was being played by our very own Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

The games I remember seeing were Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Super Mario Bros., Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, a montage of all the classics started with Pong, and of course World of Warcraft. There was also an appearance by the Video Game Pianist Martin Leung.

Overall, I really enjoyed the entire thing. The music was wonderfully done and the clips were great to watch. There was even a full choir (whose name escapes me) that was just amazing at singing. It was like watching the real music being recorded for the games. However, there were a bunch of very loud guys sitting behind us that were PlayStation fanboys, which meant a lot of yelling and cheering when they showed Metal Gear Solid and a lot of booing when they showed Halo. Both my boss and I wanted to turn around and make some snide comments, or at least tell them to shut the heck up. We didn’t though.

I was disappointed in the World of Warcraft section. I did not recognize any of the music that was played and I’m someone who actually listens and enjoys the in-game music. The clips were just cinematics from Warcraft III and WoW, plus a couple from the Wrath of the Lich King trailer. It was all right but it could have been much better.

One thing that my boss and I realized is that we may be geeks but we are not gamer geeks. If they hadn’t told us what most of the titles to the games were, we wouldn’t have recognized them. The performance from Martin Leung was great but we had no clue as to the songs he was playing. Everyone else was cheering at hearing songs they recognized, where as we just looked at each other in confusion. Oh well, I never claimed to be a hardcore gamer :)

Is it that obvious?

While I was going through my 600-something new items in my Google Reader (see what happens when I go away for a while?) and I came across Pike’s You Know Your Main Is A Hunter When…

It was very amusing, and very true. I feel uncomfortable if the mob gets too close. And what do you mean imps can’t take all those hits? Isn’t it suppose to tank for me? More than once I’ve panicked because I suddenly couldn’t find ant of my up-the-sleeve tricks like Feign Death and freezing trap and OMGIAMDEAD :P Oh, do I ever miss tracking when I don’t have it. And yes, I do try to compensate by learning herbalism or mining but it’s just not the same. :( I feel sad and jealous when I see other hunters gallivanting around with their pets and I’m not. And good lord, does it ever bother me when I see a hunter who melees on purpose, doesn’t have a pet, and/or doesn’t feed or teach new skills to their pet.

Of course, this works both ways. As evidence I bring forward the time where I was playing a little druid and Bursthoof was playing a little hunter and we were questing together. It was interesting to watch us play each other’s favorite classes…

Me: What rank of Bite does your wolf have?…What do you mean you don’t know?…Send in your pet first…for pete’s sakes, manage your shots so you don’t take aggro from your pet…DON’T RUN IN THERE AND MELEE IT!
Bursthoof: Hey, you need to buff me again…No, that buff can only be used on you…Spam Moonfire dangit…Heal…HEAL!
Me: What?!
Bursthoof: You’re a druid, you can heal yourself…and me!
Me: …oh yeah. Which is the better healing spell again?
