So again, very sorry folks, and please disregard the random 10 posts all published on June 13, 2010 if you happened to receive them.

All this design is missing now is the infamous Twitch.

And fear not, Twitch and the sunset background will be back as well. I’m going to fiddle around with this new theme until it’s the way I like it. So keep expecting changes every once in a while.

So…how does it look so far?

Really the only thing left to go is to make this blog look all pretty again…which will take a bit of time. I was thinking of slowly building up the design over time so you guys could see the changes in the look. Would anyone be interested in seeing that?

The Pet-o-licious Namerator!

You may be wondering why only 2 names appear at a time when PANDA has 10 at once. The reason? I have discovered that I’m good at thinking of serious pet names…not so good at silly ones. As a result, the silly categories for every pet name are sorely needing to be filled. Some of them only have 2 names listed in those categories. So I turn to you, my readers, once again to help me by sending in any silly pet names you can think of. Use the form below the Namerator to send them in to me. Remember that pet names can fall under more than one category so I’ve made the form able for you to choose multiple categories if it is appropriate. Once the categories have more names, I will make it so that more names appear when you press the Generate button.

I would also like to credit Fizzwidget, one of my favourite mod authors, for giving me the inspiration behind the name. It may not be as witty or inventive as some of his, but I tried.

The poll to decided how the pet name generator would work has now been closed. I figured 10 days was enough time for everyone to get their opinions in. Thanks to the 257 of you who voted, I have been able to determine that what people want is serious and silly categories for each pet family. So that’s how it’s gonna be! Special thanks to Mania for helping get the word out, and to WOWInsider for also posting about it. I will get working on it next week…after I celebrate Canada Day of course

• Practices good typography and follows the elements of design for creating graphics and layouts

• Can hand-code and frequently uses FTP and associated programs
• Photography and touch-up experience
• Has been creating websites since 2003

I’ve been playing too much WoW since I finished school and now I’m feeling a little burnt out. So it’s time to take a step back for a while and focus on other things. Namely, the pet name generator that I’ve been talking about.

The Flash itself is all done, considering that all I really had to do was to copy and paste from the PANDA name generator The biggest part will be getting all the names and putting them into categories. I have two different ideas for this:

1. A silly and a serious category for each pet family. It may be hard to come up with names for certain categories (nether rays anyone?) and this would also result in a total of 46 categories. However, this would make deciding a name much easier for the visitor and is similar to the way PANDA is set up.
2. Categories based on the name’s background. Some of the categories would be Chinese names, Japanese names, Aztec names, Greek names, fantasy names, and silly names. This way would probably be easier for me and there would be less categories but I’m not sure if this is what people want.

So…I leave the decision up to you, the people who visit my site! Through this handy little poll below, you can vote as to which one you like. Or if you have a better idea, choose the “Something Else!” option and post your idea in the comments. Comments and questions are also welcome.

So not only can you generate names for your characters but you can also suggest names to be added to the list using the form located beneath the name generator. I’d appreciate any name suggestions and shortly, I will be posting a list of the ones I require the most. If this proves to be popular enough, I may create one for naming pets. Enjoy!
