And believe me I am still alive

22-Apr-09

So it’s been 22 days since my last post…I think it should be expected by now that I will disappear for long periods of time. What can I say, I write when I feel like writing. And unlike some certain energetic people, I am lazy. 😉 And part of the reason is I want to change the design of Petoholics. Every time I come here, I keep thinking “I want to change that, and move this, and ooooh that would be shiny” and then I get thinking and I end up not posting at all.

First of all, a quick linkback to Zhire at The Spiked Collar who despite being a fairly new blogger has posted some nice hunter tips.

So for an update of what’s going on:

  • The guild leader of Bloodriver and his wife (Mysthowl and Linserai) are taking a hiatus for some personal reasons and he has named Niqora as his temporary replacement. Sure, I joked about it while chatting with guildies and some of our allies (there was much evil laughter and phrases like “Bow down before me, peons!”). But honestly, I can’t wait until they get back. Mostly because me and the other members will miss them terribly but also because I’m not certain that I fit the leadership role. If Ticalos and Tzia weren’t going to be around, I think I would freak out. Really the three of us are going to share the role but Myst could only name one as chieftain and since RPwise, Niqora is Myst’s wife…even in character Niqo would not be suited to be a leader. She has the patience of a goddess but she’s also shy to a fault and avoids conflict whenever she can. Unless someone is going to get hurt, as Tic has found out in a RP session. 😉 So, this will be an interesting (and sad) time coming up very soon.
  • Anuniaq is level 40! However my goal is 65 so I can train up her inscription…I have a ways to go yet.
  • Niqora tamed Loque! And she got the albino drake! Pictures to come in a later post.
  • My little shammy Zulrea is level 25, which is the highest I’ve ever gotten a non-hunter. I really enjoy healing. So once she reaches 40, I’m going to buy dual-spec for her and spec both resto and enhancement.

For some quick RL news, I got a job back at the beginning of February as a junior web designer. It was only suppose to be a 3 month term but I just found out that it’s being extended another 3 months at least. After those 3 months, they might hire me on as a regular employee. Which is wonderful! Also, I was chatting with my brother and once I have the money (because he’s a starving student), I’m going to get him his own WoW account so he can play with me. Finally! I will have someone I know IRL who actually plays the game.

Now I will leave you all with the song that inspired this post’s title. Try singing that on Rockband, my friends.

The wind changes today

1-Apr-09

It started with Mysthowl declaring that Bloodriver will now embrace non-violent ways. Then Ticalos followed in suit. As an officer and in-character wife of Mysthowl, Niqora must now put aside her crossbow and skinning knife, and take up flower-picking and basket-weaving as her main professions. No longer will she spend hours in the Basin murdering and harvesting various wildlife for their meat and skins. Sure, her pets (all of them carnivores) will complain noisily but hey, change happens and you just have to deal with it.

As a matter-a-fact, now that I think of it, having all of those pets just sitting around in the stables while Niqora runs about isn’t quite fair. In fact, it’s down right cruel to have them caged up as such when they should be running around free. And what about all of my other hunters with all their pets? How many days have those pets spent cloistered in tiny stable stalls?

So…this is my conclusion. No longer will I be a petoholic. Today I will release all of my pets into the wilderness from which they came, and I will bid all my hunters goodbye except for Niqora and one of her pets. And in keeping with the new purpose of Bloodriver (which will soon be named something more appropriate), I’ve decided to get Niqora a much more docile pet. I’m thinking maybe a pink moth or a sporebat. That way both Niqora and her pet can live guilt-free on fungus and fruit. And never again will I have to endure an abundance of loving and caring pets, each with their own unique and interesting personality.

Oh what a happy life that will be.

Whooooo are you? Who who, who who

Since this is going to be a bit of a random post anyways…the guild that Niqora is in (okay, so is Anuniaq, Tkasha, Githinji, Saraku, and Zulrea) has become a bit of a hangout for some bloggers. Tzia came by one day to say hi to me and I invited her into Bloodriver just because. 🙂 She ended up really liking everyone in there, moved a couple of her characters to the server, and is now one of the officers. Your guild leader Mysthowl got sucked into the blogosphere by Tzia and I. Ticalos, another officer was blogging before but has now made a second one for his main DK character. That’s four out of us five officers who blog. Cait, Vlcan, and Sellia also have characters in the guild that they drop by on at times. And Sol, another guild member, had just started blogging when he had to go on hiatus for real life stuff.

We joked once that we should change the guild name to “Blogriver”.

I’ve been passing around a couple memes lately but it looks like Tic is so cool that he’s started his own. And I shall rise to the challenge.

Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?

That’s right, I AM Gandalf. As it says in the quiz results:

A wandering spirit caring for a multitude of just concerns, you are an instrumental power in many of the causes around you.

And so am I, very dangerous: more dangerous than anything you will ever meet, unless you are brought alive before the seat of the Dark Lord.

You don’t want to mess with me. 😉

I did notice as I was looking through the results that it doesn’t include characters from one of the greatest sci-fi shows. So Tic, I call your quiz and raise you one more:

Your results:
You are Kaylee Frye (Ship Mechanic)

Don’t know what Serenity is? Watch this, then this.

Seriously, right now. Or Pike and I will find you, tape your eyes open, and make you watch all of them in a row.

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Kaylee, what in the sphincter of hell are you playing at? We got the primary buffer panel coming right…
Kaylee Frye: Everything’s shiny, Cap’n. Not to fret.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: You told me those entry couplings would hold for another week!
Kaylee Frye: That was six months ago, Cap’n.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: My ship don’t crash. If she crashes, you crashed her.

Story of my life. *grins*
