Just movin’ along…

WOOT! Level 50!Level 51

What you see here is Saraku, my little paladin, dinging first level 50 on Sunday and then 51 last night. I still can’t believe he’s coming so far so fast, why in only a handful more levels, he’ll be able to head to the Outlands. Considering how much of an altoholic I am and how slow my characters level, this seems like a big feat for me. More evidence that I REALLY like playing Saraku. I believe I’ll wait until he’s level 60 and has an epic mount before I send him to Hellfire…because there I’ll have to compete with a million and one death knights. >.< But at the rate I’m going, it shouldn’t be too long before the little nether dragonling is returning to the very land he was born in. Oh the RP opportunities. 😉

Argent Tournament Jousting Strategy

25-Jul-09

I try to do the Argent Tournament dailies every day (before for the titles and now just for the seals). My guildies and other friends do them as well but I always hear them complaining about how difficult the jousting ones are.

I’ve tried to explain the strategy that I use (and I can’t remember exactly where I found it) but it appears to be a bit confusing since I can’t show them what I mean.

So my solution was to create a video of Niqora using the technique on two different opponents. Of course you don’t have to watch the whole thing to get the jist of what I’m doing but it’s there just in case you do.

Here’s an explanation of the technique:

  1. Get your shields (Defend) up to 3 stacks right before you challenge the opponent.
  2. Once he takes off, spam Charge. You’ll automatically charge him when he’s far enough away. This will remove one of his shields.
  3. You’ll keep charging past him and what you want to do is to make a loop back around so you end up standing right in front of him. While you make the loop, spam Shield Breaker. This may take a couple tries to get right and sometimes it doesn’t even work. But if it does work, your opponent will lose another shield and he won’t be able to get a Charge/Shield Breaker off on you.
  4. Once you are within melee range again after completeing the loop, spam Thrust while making sure that you have 3 shields up. I always press Defend once during the melee part even if I still have 3 stacks of shields up. This way I know they won’t expire unexpectedly.
  5. Once your opponent starts to walk away from you again, start spamming Charge and repeat the process over again.

A higher quality version of this video is available on Xfire.

Here are two other explanations of the same strategy in case mine isn’t clear enough:

And of course questions/comments are always welcome. I hope this helps some people out when they’re doing their jousting. 🙂

Well, I guess it was bound to happen eventually

An account in our guild got hacked. Which wouldn’t have been so bad if it hadn’t happened to be an officer account. >.<

They took almost everything out of the guild bank (4 mostly full tabs worth) and whatever gold was in there (at least 3500). And for some strange reason, they kicked a member out of the guild.

I have to say that after I found out, the next few hours were very stressful for me. I couldn’t kick the hacked character out of the guild because they were the same rank as me and I couldn’t get a hold of our guild leader either (I must have phoned the poor guy a dozen times in a panic). Mostly I stood around Dalaran on Niqora, unwilling to log off because I wanted to make sure that I was there if anything else happened. The hacker had full power to kick everyone but the officers and the guild leader from Bloodriver. I’m glad he never did because I think I would have just broken down in frustration.

Lucky for me, I had my guildies to pick up my mood. We started joking around and doing some instance runs because that’s what we would do on a normal day. One of them even submitted a ticket to point out the comprimised account and to start getting our items back into the guild bank. By the time the guild leader came on and kicked the hacked character out of the guild, we were all in a better mood than before.

What happened really REALLY sucked and I never want it to happen again. But it made me realize yet again how luck I am to be in a guild with great people. I’m not going to dwell on the past, I’m going to do whatever I can to make things right again. Congratulations hacker, you got our items and gold. But we’re gonna get it back and we’ll be laughing while you’re sitting all by your lonesome self, stealing like the lowly crook you are and being venomously hated by scores of people. You won the battle, we won the war.
